Review period will definitely
overwhelm you, not only with information but with your priorities. There are a
number of things that are as important as studying. Like we mentioned in our
previous posts, you have to be ready mentally, spiritually, emotionally and
physically. Here is a list of some things you might be forgetting to do while
you’re studying:
1. Sleep!!
(Rest or power naaaap!)
Never
underestimate the power of rest! You might ignore the number of hours you’ve
been sleeping as the board exam approaches… Seriously. The anxiety of not
studying enough will haunt you and might make you stay up late at night. Which,
believe me, is very unnecessary especially if the exam is weeks away! Remember
to rest your brain and body after a whole day of studying. J
Check this
article about Sleep Deprivation (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/11/121121145400.htm) and the
author’s recommendation when the best studying times are!
2. Stay healthy and eat right.
You might
think that just because you’re stressed with studying that you’re allowed to
have a cheat day everyday or during the whole period of review... Well, we
recommend that you balance your daily routine!
Remember
that it only takes you a few ugly things to get you sick and a longer time for
you to recover. (Add on the everyday stress of trying to fit all that
information in your brain.)
3. Reward yourself!
Studying… is
too much of a monochromatic word. Perhaps you cringe every time someone asks
you what you do all day. I know I did, every single time I’d say the word
“study”.
Keep in mind
that you mind, just like any other muscle in your body, needs to relax after a
long marathon of reading and memorizing. Give yourself the break you deserve!
Do something fun once in a while. As my dad say, have fun but not too much!
Heehee.

reward times during our review days! J
4. Read
something new everyday.
The reading material
could either be for fun or something for the exam. To relax your mind, read a
book that would calm your mind and make you relaxed. You could also try to read
an interior design related article.
Having a
variety of materials, that is Interior Design related, will help the mind
broaden your horizon and stretch those muscles. It’s not that I’m against
re-reading, but at times it would help that you have tidbits of new information
than long paragraphs of the same thing and reading it 5x a day.
5. Find a near place to stay during the board
exam proper.
This is the
most practical advice we could give you!! THIS IS A MUST DO EARLY AND NOT
FORGET!!!! Remember that if you live really far from MLQU (I’m guessing that’s
your venue of exam again) consider the traffic going there and back, your mode
of transportation and how much things you’ll be bringing!!
Lucky if you
have your own car and driver or your parents will be willing to bring you to
and fro… But best option is finding a near apartment for you to stay in. Trust
me, right after the exam all you can think about is taking a shower, resting on
a bed and eating goooooood food for dinner!!
Since MLQU
is a known venue for review and licensure board exams, just type “apartment
near MLQU” and you’re welcome!! Just make sure you do an ocular before actually
reserving your room.
